Extruder specialists since 1891

About The Bonnot Company

We design, build, test, and service extruders for customers worldwide — backed by over 130 years of hands-on engineering and a team that stays.

Who we are

A focused team. A long track record.

The Bonnot Company is a privately owned manufacturer of industrial extruders, headquartered in Akron, Ohio. We are roughly 30 people — small enough that every project gets real attention, experienced enough that very little surprises us. Our team divides naturally into two halves. About half work in front-office roles: sales, engineering, customer service, quality assurance, finance, and purchasing. The other half are on the floor: machinists, test room operators, shipping and receiving, and project management. Both sides are essential; neither works in isolation. We maintain sales offices in the UK and China, which means our engineers and account managers are in the same time zones as our international customers — not scrambling to bridge a 12-hour gap.

From a Pennsylvania blacksmith shop to global extrusion.

Our roots stretch back further than most industrial companies can claim.

1815 Maximin Bonnot is discharged from Napoleon's army and emigrates to America, where he establishes a blacksmith shop in Pennsylvania — the first Bonnot craft enterprise on American soil.

1891 The Bonnot Company is formally founded. For over a century, the company has built extrusion equipment for customers across food, chemicals, ceramics, pharmaceuticals, and industrial materials.

Today Still privately owned. Still headquartered in Akron, Ohio. Still staffed by long-tenured specialists who take their craft seriously — and take care of the customers who depend on it.

Our People

Retention is not an accident.

We have a high number of long-term employees — and that is intentional. We invest in the people who work here: reasonable hours, fair pay, a culture where skilled work is respected. In return, our customers deal with people who genuinely know the equipment, know the industry, and know them. Institutional knowledge matters in precision manufacturing. When a customer calls with a problem on a machine they installed eight years ago, the person who picks up the phone often helped build it.

Quality Policy Statement

It is the policy of The Bonnot Company to provide our customers with products which are continually improving to meet or exceed their requirements in a timely manner.

In practice, that means every extruder is test-run before it ships. We don't send equipment out the door and hope for the best. Our test room exists precisely to catch and resolve issues under our roof, not yours.

FAQ

How long has Bonnot been making extruders?
The Bonnot Company was founded in 1891 — over 130 years of continuous operation in industrial extrusion. That longevity means we have encountered, solved, and documented an unusually wide range of process and engineering challenges.
Where are you located, and do you work with international customers?
Our manufacturing facility and headquarters are in Akron, Ohio. We also maintain dedicated sales offices in the United Kingdom and China, allowing us to serve customers in Europe and Asia without the lag of a US-only operation.
Is Bonnot publicly traded or privately owned?
The Bonnot Company is privately owned. That means our decisions are driven by long-term customer relationships and product quality — not quarterly earnings targets or investor pressure.
What industries do you serve?
We build and service extruders for customers in food processing, ceramics, chemical processing, pharmaceuticals, rubber, and industrial materials, among others. If your process involves extrusion, it's worth a conversation.
Do you offer testing before delivery?
Yes. Every machine goes through our in-house test room before shipment. We run the equipment to confirm it performs to spec — so commissioning at your facility goes smoothly rather than becoming a debugging exercise.
How large is the Bonnot team?
We are a focused team of approximately 30 specialists. That size is deliberate — it keeps our organizational structure flat, our communication fast, and our relationships with customers direct rather than filtered through layers of account management.
